Fed: Media apology coverage fuelled shocking poll reult for Nelson: Robb

One of BRENDAN NELSON'S colleagues says saturation coverage of last week's apology
to the stolen generations .. is partly to blame for the opposition leader's record-low
support.

The latest Newspoll shows Dr NELSON has a preferred prime minister rating of just nine
per cent .. the first time an opposition leader has slipped to single figures.

It compares to Prime Minister KEVIN RUDD's record support .. at 70 per cent.

Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister ANDREW ROBB has told ABC Radio .. the poll just reinforces
the Liberals' need to get back to basics and start to rebuild and reconnect .. after last
November's crushing election defeat.
