WA:Policeman investigated for Facebook photos

The West Australian opposition says it's extremely disturbing that a policeman's under
investigation for allegedly putting photographs on Facebook of drunk Aboriginal men in
custody.

A Fairfax website reports the photographs show the men intoxicated and barely conscious
inside a police cell in the remote Goldfields town of Wiluna.

They were allegedly posted on Senior Constable JOHN TRENOUTH's "profile pictures" folder
on his Facebook page last year.

Police internal affairs officers are investigating the allegations and have taken copies
of the photographs.

Opposition spokeswoman MARGARET QUIRK says it's hard to contemplate any mitigating
circumstances for the conduct.

Senior Constable TRENOUTH has been stood down from duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
